A Statista report from January 2023 shows that users aged 18-24 make up the majority of users on TikTok at 38.9%. This is closely followed by 32.4% aged 25-35, 15.6% aged 45-54 and 5.1% aged 55+.

Other popular TikTok accounts include Charlie D’Amelio, Addison Rae, Bella Poarch, and Zach King.

And this number has risen consistently. Considering that videos on the platform are usually short, ranging from 15 seconds to one minute (though updated to up to 10 minutes). Users are spending a considerable amount of time consuming content on the app, proving success in the engaging and addictive nature of the app.
TikTok’s engagement rate is higher than other social media platforms
With TikTok users seemingly more likely to engage with content on the app, the engagement rate has surpassed its competitors at 6.72%. It has also reached an average watch rate at 16.23%.
TikTok has been downloaded over 3.5 billion times globally
This makes it one of the first non-meta apps to reach this phenomenal figure. It was also the most downloaded app of 2022 with over 672 million downloads.
TikTok’s revenue is projected to reach $30 billion by 2025
This is a significant increase from its 2020 revenue of $2 billion. The app’s revenue is driven by advertising, with brands partnering with creators to promote their products and services on the app.

Influencers in the US have one of the highest engagement rates at around 18%. Interestingly, engagement is actually higher for micro-influencers (less than 15,000 followers) than those with accounts with over a million followers!

Figure from eMarketer and Insider Intelligence predicted that 2022 TikTok ad revenue would account for around 2.4% of digital ad spending in 2022, compared to just 1% the year previous.
