SEO is important as users tend not to want to search through lots of pages of search results to find what they are looking for. When they do find what they are looking for, that’s normally the end of the search, so it doesn’t matter that you were only a few listings after the one they clicked, your site will not get the visitors.

1) Create engaging content that people want to link to

Great content is king and creating great content will drive people to your site. Inbound SEO links (other sites linking to yours) is still one of the biggest influences for search engines. So, if your site is full of original and interesting content, you stand a far better chance of other sites linking to you, giving you better results.

2) Encourage editorial links

Editorial links can be very powerful in the SEO battle as they come from other publications in your niche or area of expertise. A backlink checker should tell you what all links you possess. The easiest way to get editorial links is to create engaging content (see point 1) that the sites will want to share with their readers. A lot of social media is talking about interesting articles. A lot of sites adopt this method as it cuts down on the time it would take for them to write the original content themselves.

2) Keyword research

Keyword research is the method used by SEO professionals to find and research actual search terms that people enter into search engines. There are many websites like Spamzilla which offer you the tools to expedite the keyword research. Keyword research is one of the most valuable and rewarding techniques of SEO, and ranking for the right keywords can make or break the success of your website. With keyword research you can predict changes in demand, respond to market conditions and produce the services and products that internet browsers (maybe put ‘customers’ ) are actually looking for.

Heading tags should tell the reader and the search engine what the page is about. Headings can also tell the search engine the importance of the content by using <H2> (Heading 2) and <H3> (Heading 3) tags. It is advisable not to use generic terms like “Home” or “Products” as these aren’t descriptive enough. Also, it is wise not to have essential information that would likely be your main heading as an image.

7) Don’t Ignore Social Media

Your website should come up first in the search, but closely following should be your social media channels brimming with up-to-date content and an engaged community.
