However as good as new technology is there are still limitations to using it for marketing. Unfortunately to make the most of Virtual Reality you need a VR headset, and, most people don’t have one! One way in which apps make for great marketing is the fact that users can be split into different demographics. Knowing this can be key to a marketing campaign as there would be no point marketing the newest murder mystery novel to people who enjoy interacting with others modifying cars.
People use apps for leisure, for example, the average facebook user spends Fifty minutes a day on either Facebook, Instagram or Messenger platforms (and that’s not counting the popular messaging app WhatsApp). 
You can also exploit technical developments in apps to your marketing advantage. By advertising on location based apps such as Uber and Pokemon Go you can advertise to people who are within a certain distance of your business offering them 10% off their order allowing you to increase the likelihood of them visiting your shop and becoming a new customer. For example, it’s highly likely that someone within the proximity would be looking for a designer to design Covid-19 banner online. You can utilise such opportunities by offering discounts on your vinyl banners. You can also choose which types of location based apps you market on. If you wanted to market your video game shop then you would choose Pokemon Go over Uber as you already have a mutual interest with the people you are marketing to.
However, if apps aren’t your thing and you are wanting to use your own website to market your business online it’s vital it is optimised for mobile devices. There are a few challenges you may have to overcome to fully optimise your site but they are musts! Your site must function correctly on all screen sizes, this allows you to incorporate mobile phones (big or small), tablets, (big or small) and even handheld gaming devices! As of October 2015, mobile devices made up 51.3% of all online searches with desktops making up 48.7% that means that if your site isn’t optimised it should be!
